There are so many beauty salons in the country that offer manicure or pedicures. There are some nail bars that offer nail services exclusively as well. Prices range from something as low as P70 to P1200 per manicure service depending on the location, the salon, as well as the skills of the nail technician.

While it is tempting to go for the salon that offers the cheapest manicure/pedicure, there are 3 things that you should always ask yourself before going for that.

1. Is the salon clean?

If the salon is unkempt, there’s dust everywhere and it simply looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for a while, run. If the staff could not keep the space clean, would you expect them to be able to sanitize the tools? Clean the foot bath basins? The place and equipment do not have to be posh, they just have to be clean. Cleanliness is extremely important.

A salon is supposed to be a relaxing haven. So how can you relax if you see piles of dirt everywhere? Which brings us to #2

2. Does the salon have a medical-grade sanitizer?

Always ask how the tools are sanitized. Sanitation could be done by boiling the tools in water at 100 degrees Celsius or steaming in an airtight chamber. Some salons, like JuanPlace Beauty, use a medical-grade sanitizer which uses heat and UV rays to disinfect tools after every use. It is important to make sure that the tools used on you are cleaned, sanitized and disinfected to avoid any health problems.

Note, we're not just talking about "clean" tools here. Cleaning is simply reducing germs on a surface by removing dirt and debris. Cleaning does not mean removing pathogens from the tools' surfaces. Sanitizing, on the other hand, reduces the number of germs on surfaces of the tools to a safe level, acceptable by public health standards. Meanwhile, disinfecting involves the use of products that prove that it can kill 99.9% of specified viruses or bacteria on a surface in a specific dwell time.

3. How do they treat customers?

Observe how the attendants treat the customers. Are customers greeted in a friendly manner? Do they acknowledge your presence when you walk in? Are the staff noisy and rude? Are the staff laughing and gossiping despite having customers around?

Nail salons are all about quality service and you should not have to endure poor customer service especially if you are paying for it. The atmosphere sets the tone for the service you are about to receive. A professional, yet friendly staff, will likely listen to your concerns and not brush off your questions.

Bonus Tip

Check their online customer photos. Make sure that these are actual results and not stock photos. You can easily tell by looking at the samples what kind of nail service you are about to receive.

Even if the manicure/pedicure is within the low to medium range, expect nothing less than the best service that the salon can offer. Affordable should not mean poor quality.

You may check us out at JuanPlace Beauty, Level 2 of 1576 A. Gabuya Street, Cogon, Pardo, Cebu City. Take a look at the atmosphere and get to know our staff before you decide on our services. Our manicure/pedicure are only P98 each with a P10 discount for members. Despite the price, we never compromise quality. To book an appointment, call 0995 027 4889.
